Registration for the 58th Annual IVLA Conference, “Seeing Through Time: The Legacy of Images in Memory, Place, and Representation,” closes September 5. If you’re planning to join us in Charleston this fall, there’s still time to register!

Hosted in partnership with the Gibbes Museum of Art, IVLA 2026 will bring together scholars, educators, artists, researchers, and creative professionals from around the world for three days of conversation, exploration, and connection.

Announcing Our Keynote Speaker

We are excited to welcome multidisciplinary artist Stephen Hayes as our IVLA 2026 keynote speaker. Hayes’ work explores American and African American history through themes of identity, labor, representation, and material culture, offering a compelling connection to this year’s conference theme.

We’re also pleased to share the official IVLA 2026 press release, highlighting this year’s conference and our partnership with the Gibbes Museum of Art.
